Overview
In this project, I collaborated with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) Marketing Team to curate and design the annual exhibition ArtBash.Within SAIC’s academic spine, all first-year students take a Contemporary Practices (CP) course. CP encourages students to explore a wide range of media and materials, guiding them to become multidisciplinary artists who break boundaries and move beyond the expected. ArtBash celebrates this idea of “beyond” by showcasing students’ successes, experiments, and even their failures. For this project, I wanted to emphasize fluidity and artistic transformation: how an artist’s direction or vision can shift and evolve into something entirely new. Many students arrive at SAIC with a clear sense of their style or goals, but the CP curriculum challenges that certainty, encouraging them to embrace hybridity, oddity, and the unexpected. My design reflects this spirit of constant change and reimagining.
